5 Ways for Stay-at-Home Moms to Get their Workout in Every Day

I don’t work a 9 to 5 job because I run my own freelance business from the comfort of my home. Some might think this gives me all the time in the world to do whatever I want. However, the struggle is real to be 100% organized, especially that I decided not to send my youngest son to the nursery before the age of 2 (he is 1 year 9 months old now). So, with my hectic schedule where I have to work, cook, clean and take care of a very active baby all by myself (I don’t have a domestic worker), it became very hard with time to squeeze in a workout every single day, and I honestly hate the gym so it is not even an option.

Days passed, then weeks passed, then sickness, a 1-month vacation, and then another sickness, and I found myself off the fitness wagon. I usually get it back together during Lent, but I suffered from severe food poisoning (thanks, Dawlé) and every time I tried to get back on track, something would happen, until I decided it was finally time to take the bull by the horns.

So now I have a plan to get that 30 minute workout in every day, and it’s actually working beautifully for the first time in months!

It’s a simple 5-step approach:

Mind over Matter

Tell yourself “I will make it happen today” and you’re halfway there. No excuses; it’s as simple as that!

Take 30 Minutes off your Social Media Time

Instead of spending an entire hour to check your social media accounts, split that time in half and get your body moving! You will feel a whole lot better and more accomplished!

Put your Workout Clothes on Early Morning

Make it a habit to put on your workout clothes as soon as you wake up to get you in the mood to work out, even if you were not going to do it right away (but if you are then it’s all for the better!)

Work out when the Baby sleeps

Babies tend to take 1 to 2 naps a day, and each nap is for at least 1 hour, which gives you enough time to get your work out in followed by a shower.

Fitness Time as “Me Time”

Just like you would consider drinking your coffee in peace, getting your manicure done or taking a stress-free shower as your “me time”, working out can be a vital part of the latter. It makes you feel good, makes your body look good and makes you take out all that stress, releasing all those endorphins that make you an all-around happier person!

Remember to pick a workout that you love so you enjoy it. The options are endless with hundreds of thousands of YouTube workout videos if you don’t have workout DVDs at home.

Now time to break a sweat!
