5 Great Ways to Get Your Employees Engaged on Social Media

If you or your social media manager has made a killer content strategy plan for social media, and it’s getting great engagement from your followers, what gives if your employees aren’t engaging in this as well? Customers are significantly more likely to trust company employees when it comes to products and services rather than the CEO. 

To top that off, customers, in general, are going to trust employees. But how can you get employees to show that company pride on social media? These are some helpful tips to find out how!

Start by creating an employee survey

A great way to figure out why your employees are not engaging is to conduct a survey.  It makes perfect sense to ask employees what they think about the social media strategy, as social media is a part of company growth and sales. So just ask employees straight up why they’re not engaging with the content. There could be a variety of reasons such as lack of use of social media, unknowingly not following the company on social media, or even just not seeing posts from the company whatsoever due to the algorithm.

Provide content that employees will find enjoyable

Just as you should create engaging content for your customers, the same could be said about your employees as well. You can think about Instagram for your media plan, but try to think of other ways to create engagement too. Creating engaging worthy content that will get employees involved. This can be company news, introducing teammates in the company, or even showing off events of involved team members.

Have a clear social media policy

Some employees simply don’t engage because they think that they may not be allowed to engage or they may think they’re not allowed to talk about their company at all. There are cases for companies where the social media policy is very cloudy, this of course is going to cause so much confusion. Ensure that your social media policy is clear, don’t overcomplicate it or else you’re risking less engagement.

Don’t force engagement

There are, unfortunately, some companies that force their employees to engage in this social media content such as liking, sharing, tagging, and so much more. Consumers can see right through this and they’re going to get suspicious. Not only are you forcing your employees to engage, but you’re most likely going to get them to feel as if social media is a chore. You do not want to do this, it’s unprofessional, shady, and it is not going to make your company look good.

Make a fun contest out of employee engagement

Try to make things fun for employees. A fun and very convenient way to promote your company without breaking the bank is by creating little contests or games with your employees. This can include individuals or departments battling it out to see how they can get the most engagement from followers. You can reward employees with gift cards, extra time off, donations in their name, and so much more. This is simple and it can be a great way to bring some fun competition into the scene.
