On this International Women’s Day, I wish to see a higher Lebanese female representation in the parliament and other official institutions.
I wish to see Lebanese women, all of them, stand up in the face of violence, harassment, assault and inequality.
I wish to see them follow their dreams and make them come true.
I wish to see them conquer the world, each in her own unique way.
I wish to see them claim their rights, and not be afraid to say “No”.
I wish to see them more empowered.
I wish to see them being given more chances.
I wish to see them go for it, because they can, and nothing should stop them.
I wish to see their voices being actually heard.
I wish to see them freed from prejudice, stereotyping, bullying and body shaming.
I wish to see them not having to prove anything to anyone, because they are indeed capable of so much more than they are allowed to.
I wish to see them enjoy more appreciation, not for compliment, but because they truly deserve it, for they are some of the strongest women in the world.
I simply wish to see them embrace their womanhood, because they deserve it. Because they are worth it. Because they matter.
They are educators, society builders, supermoms, entrepreneurs, housewives.
They are women of power, and they deserve to be given power.
Cheers to the powerful women of Lebanon, for they have been through a lot, and they will go through a lot more in the future for sure.
Cheers to all the super women who went through blood, sweat and tears, just to lead by example and set high standards for other Lebanese women to follow.
Today, I couldn’t be prouder to be a woman. I couldn’t be prouder to be Lebanese. I couldn’t absolutely be prouder to be a Lebanese woman.
