How to look After Your Garden This Summer

Having a garden allows you to connect with nature and create a lovely, tranquil environment to relax in, but also to entertain guests. In order to keep it looking its best there are a few jobs that you will need to routinely do to keep your garden in tip top shape.

Water Your Plants and Flowers

This may seem obvious but it is important to regularly water your plants and flowers, particularly in the hot summer months where there may not be a great deal of rainfall. Plants can lose moisture through their leaves so it is vital that there is water in the soil for them to absorb all the necessary nutrients. This will help to keep them looking fresh and healthy.

Mow the Lawn

Ensuring you have a decent lawn mower like a Bradley Mowers one, will help to efficiently mow the lawn. Ideally you should be aiming to mow it at least once a week in the summer months and twice weekly at times, as it is likely to grow quicker in the warmer weather. Maintaining a good lawn is both healthy for the grass and will help to keep your garden looking neat and tidy.

Wash Down the Patio Area

If you have a decking area it is a good idea to wash it down quite regularly, to keep excess dirt and leaves at bay. Sweep away any large remnants of dirt and then use a hose or pressure washer to clean the area down. You can also use a deck cleaning solution as well to prevent a build up of mould and it will help to maintain the wood in good condition for longer.

Keep The Shed Tidy and Organized

It is a good idea to routinely organize the contents of your shed so that items do not accumulate over time and you have somewhere to store larger items such as your lawnmower or any garden furniture. This will be particularly useful on rainy evenings so that it does not get damaged.

Get Rid of any Weeds

Weeds are a nuisance in the garden and should be removed as soon as possible. They can be damaging to other nearby plants or flowers as they absorb all the good nutrients from the soil which can cause them to die. By pulling them up from the root, this will prevent them from absorbing any further nutrients. There are more natural methods to kill weeds if you do not want to use harsh chemicals.

Keep Your Soil In Good Condition

You want to ensure that you regularly dig up the soil in your garden to get rid of any debris and weeds. It helps to keep the soil in good condition which will allow your plants and flowers to thrive from all the nutrients. Also by checking the soil you will know if you need to add any compost in order to boost its natural goodness.
