Mixing Business and Pleasure: When your Vacation turns into a Workcation
Every time I book a quick vacation or getaway, I end up accepting jobs and the vacation turns into a workcation.
It works perfectly well because I get to spend more time with my family, and doing fun activities with them becomes way more rewarding after having finished the day’s assignments.
Last week’s Orlando trip, which was supposed to be a quick, relaxing 2-day getaway, ended up being a 4-day workcation. I had already booked the hotel and could no longer cancel the reservation, so I accepted the job offers that I received and booked an additional night and drove to Orlando on that same night so I can be up and early the following day, working from my hotel room while the kids have fun by the pool.
Since both my husband and I are self employed, we took turns keeping the kids entertained while we both got about our business. The afternoons were the highlight of each day, of course.
There is something about the feeling you get when your job pays for your vacation (or at least part thereof :D)
All in all, it was a fun getaway where we celebrated the birthdays of two of my children as well as Mothers’ Day.
