Showing Your Employees They are Valued

Showing your employees they are valued is really important. Not only is it the right thing to do, but it also helps to foster a sense of loyalty between your employees and your business, and it has also been shown to boost productivity, morale, and a whole bunch of other good stuff that would benefit your business.

But how exactly do you show your employees they are valued? Saying thank you is always nice, but it isn’t really enough in its own, because it’s so easy to say thank you even if you don’t mean it, and after a while, it can become pretty meaningless. Luckily, there are lots of other things you can do to show your appreciation…

Trust them

Tusting your employees to get on with their work without micromanaging them or forcing them to justify every single decision they make is a great way to show them that they are trusted, valued members of the team who you can rely on, and it has been shown to actually improve productivity because employees tend to be happier and more effective when they aren’t being watched all the time.

Keep them safe

Going above and beyond the health and safety regulations of your region to show your employees you value their safety, whether by installing large atrium smoke curtains, hiring security to escort them to and from the car park and generally lookout for them, or installing the best security system money can buy, is a very subtle, but appreciated way of showing your employees you value them enough to go the extra mile to keep them safe.

Benefits

Benefits are a good way to attract great employees, and they can also be an excellent way of showing employees they are valued. The best way to do this is by offering more than just the standard health benefits. Offering things like free gym memberships, subsidized meals, allowing pets in the office, and things like that will all be very much appreciated by employees who will know that your business values them. Try asking your employees what kind of benefits they would most like to see and they’ll be even more appreciated.

Feed them

Bringing donuts each morning, paying for pizza every Friday, or ensuring that there is always a snack station available in the office – whatever you can do to keep your staff well-fed will be a winner because people need to eat, they love to eat, and when it’s free they really appreciate it more. If you keep them well-fed, you’ll be the best poss ever.

Recognition

Of course, perhaps the best way to show your employees that they are valued is to make sure that you give them recognition for all the good they do. This can be verbally, but you should also think about giving them bonuses, awards, and little presents when they really do good work because they are out there making money for you, and giving them a little something back is a great thing to do.

Value your employees and they will add value to your business!
