Super Cool Office Chill Out Area Concepts Your Staff Will Love

Today’s millennials want areas in the office they can go to chill out, relax, unwind and generally enjoy themselves. But business owners can sometimes struggle to know what to provide in these spaces. What exactly do workers want?

In this post, we discuss some of the chill out area concepts that your colleagues are craving. Check them out below.

Add Books

Tech companies turned chill out spaces into arcades, but you don’t necessarily have to go down this route. For many brands, the best approach is to simply add some books so that colleagues can enjoy a spot of quiet reading. Books provide people with important downtime and distraction. For many people, they help to calm the mind while also nourishing their creative potential.

Provide Nap Space

Depending on your industry, you might also want to provide workers with a place to nap (usually immediately after lunch). Many colleagues find that a quick 30 minutes of shut-eye prepares them for the challenges of the afternoon and allows them to stay alert during five o-clock meetings.

Setting up a nap space is easy. Just tell your colleagues that that’s what you’re doing and provide some comfy pods or bean bags that they can use as an alternative to sleeping at their desks.

Add Games

Games are a great way for millennial employees to relax, unwind and generally enjoy their breaks. If you’re not sure which types of games they will like, you can try air hockey, darts and ping pong table rentals before you commit. Just gather feedback from your colleagues and find out which games they would like to see the most.

Provide Audio-Visual Relaxation

High-stress industries are investing heavily in technology that helps to return colleagues’ minds to tranquility and equanimity during their breaks. They’re finding that audio-visual relaxation rooms are one of the best ways to do this. These spaces provide relaxing or hypnotic music and have lights that create calming patterns on the wall. Many also include meditative “oum” sounds to change people’s brain chemistry and make them feel better.

Get A Hygge Theme

On a similar note, many brands are also experimenting with the concept of hygge. The idea here is to focus on creating a cozy and comfortable mood in the house, creating issues of wellness and contentment. Most hygge rooms feature a lot of rugs, cushions and fabrics in an attempt to create a cozy atmosphere. Colors are usually earthy or neutral and designed to evoke the patterns found in nature. Again, most office workers find these setups relaxing, helping them to prepare for a difficult meeting or presentation.

Add Game Consoles

Video games are an important part of some colleagues’ lifestyle, so adding a game console is a great way for you to meet their needs. The Nintendo Wii is one of the most popular consoles for workplaces since it offers active games, but it all depends on the type of people who work at your organization. You can also add games to computer terminals if you have the right equipment.
