5 Signs Your Business Building Needs Repairs

Your workplace is efficient, but is the commercial building structurally sound and attractive? If not, that could harm your business reputation and potentially be a safety hazard for workers and any customers entering the premises. If you are unsure if it is time to repair the building, watch for these signs that point to the need for a renovation.

1. Pooling Water Outside

If you see pools of water near the base of the building the day after the rain stops, that can signal a poor drainage system. There could be a clog that needs clearing as water is not draining adequately from the building. This problem needs attention from a professional as, over time, the water can eat away at the foundation, leading to a much bigger issue.

2. Water Stains Inside

If the water pools within the building itself on floors or if you see staining from water on ceilings or walls, there is a strong chance that the roof needs replacement. It could be more extensive than you realize, so call up a commercial roofing company to repair it as soon as possible. If the roof is not fixed, it could lead to mold and mildew quickly getting out of hand.

3. Peeling Paint on Walls

Seeing peeling paint on the interior walls of your business could be due to water moisture. It could also be that the surface was not properly prepared prior to the initial paint job, so the finish did not correctly adhere to the wall. As you want the space to look as attractive as possible for worker satisfaction and to maintain a polished image to customers who enter the building, get it repainted soon.

4. Doors Don’t Close Properly

If doors that once closed correctly do not do so anymore, or the same is true of the windows that bring natural light into your business establishment, it could point to structural damage. That puts the building at risk, from the foundation to the walls and roof. Getting a professional in to assess the area of damage and fix it now can prevent the issue from worsening over time.

5. Cold in Some Areas, Warm in Others

If several employees tell you that they are feeling cold while others say they feel warm, that is an obvious sign of uneven heating. You may have an issue with the HVAC System, such as a blocked vent. It could also be dirty coils or that you notice a decline in air quality. Regular maintenance of the system by an expert can help prevent the issue.

Keeping Your Business Building in Good Shape

Creating a workplace that is good enough for your team and customers starts today. An annual inspection of the building’s interior and exterior can help alert you to any problems early on to address them. This yearly activity can save you money in the long run as you catch the issue before it becomes more complex and expensive. That helps keep your employees and clients safe and satisfied.
