How To Make Your Business Feel More Like You

When it comes to running a business, what’s the most powerful tool you have? The answer is you! If you can make sure your personality is in your business and you’re able to tell your unique story, show off your quirks and what makes you different, and prove what your values are, that’s all going to be massively helpful and valuable when it comes to building your brand and becoming successful. With that in mind, here are some handy tips for making your business feel more like you – read on to find out more.

Use Your Voice

Every business has (or should have) its own tone of voice that’s used in all its content, from social media to the website to emails, and anything else that has to be said. So what is your business’s tone of voice? And, more importantly, is it yours? Because if you want your business to feel more like you, it really should be. In other words, does your content match up to how you speak? If not, it’s time to make some changes and let your voice come through because that could be what makes people take notice.

The key is to find the right balance – you don’t want to be too informal right from the start, but equally you don’t want to come off sounding like a machine. So you need to strike a good balance and write like you’re being friendly and talking to a client rather than a best friend or family member, but share some anecdotes and authentic moments too.

Create A Visual Story

Your visuals say just as much (and perhaps more) about your brand as your words, so they’re a great thing to work on if you want your business to feel more like you. This could mean you need to work with a personal brand photographer because a really good one is going to be able to capture the real you, whatever and whoever that might be.

It’s a good idea to avoid stock photos unless they really do reflect what you want to say perfectly – they might be out there, but they’ll probably take a while to find them. Instead, opt for images that really tell your story, and speak to the photographer to see what ideas they have that you can work with. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words, so getting this bit right is more important than you might think.

Get Rid Of What Doesn’t Feel Right

This idea might sound a little bit strange or even uncomfortable, but what about getting rid of anything you’re currently using or doing that doesn’t feel right and that doesn’t match up to who you are? It can take a bit of work, especially if you’ve been doing things the same way for a while, but once it’s done, you’ll feel better and your business will feel more like you.

For example, if you’re not happy writing blog posts, what about trying videos instead? If you hate networking in person, how about trying it online? The point is, if it’s not working it’s probably because it’s not really you, so make some changes and experiment until you’re comfortable and you’ll find it suits you a lot more.
