Getting Out with Your Dog in the Summer

You can form better attachments and bonds when you get out with your dog. And summer is the perfect time to take up some new activities that you and your furry friend will both enjoy.

Take Them to a Dog Park

Just like kids love to play in the park, so do dogs. Of course, nature parks are dog-friendly anyway. But most major cities have dedicated dog parks these days with activities such as frames and tubes for them to play with. These are great if you live in an apartment. However, you risk bites from other dogs if you aren’t careful. So find a dog bites attorney near you if this happens. You can reduce the chance of your dog doing this if you socialize them well early on.

Dogs Love to Swim

Did you know that dogs are great natural swimmers? Well, they are, and it’s great fun to watch their smiling faces when they jump in the water. Also, this exercise is just as good for you as it is for them. So why not jump in too? If you are concerned about them getting into trouble, stay in shallow areas and put a doggy life vest on them. That way, they will stay afloat. If your dog is new to swimming, try to keep your session to 10 minutes or under as they learn to have fun.

Hike Out with Your Dog

Dogs can walk until the cows come home because they love sniffing around and finding new things. So if you are a hiker or enjoy a long walk in the park, a dog makes the perfect companion. You can unleash them and let them explore further up the path if they are well-trained to not run away. But always try to stay aware of any dangers that might be bad for a dog, such as steep cliffs with brittle edges. And watch out for other hikers, walkers, and cyclists.

Take Them Camping with You

Summer is the best time to go camping, and millions of people answer the call each year. Camping is relatively cheap compared to other types of vacations once you have purchased what you need. And it’s pretty much the best way to get out into nature. And dogs love nothing more than sleeping under the stars. Additionally, it gives them something to do rather than lazing around the house or even boarding a kennel. And the kids will love having them there.

Take Up Jogging Together

If you want to get a little, jogging is a recommended beginner activity. It tones your muscles, helps you lose excess weight, and gives your heart a good workout. But it can be lonely and boring, meaning you may not want to do it. Yet taking the dog along with you gives you a reason to get out and about. Additionally, the benefits of jogging are the same for a dog as they are for humans, with the added bonus of keeping your dog’s nails nice and short after they run around.

Summary

You can go out with your dog more in summer as the weather is more favorable. Dog parks offer great fun for them. You can go hiking and camping. Jogging is a healthy activity for both of you.
