Planning a Big Trip for 2023
As 2022 draws to a close, many of us are turning our minds towards 2023. The year ahead is a blank canvas and it’s entirely up to you what you decide to do with it. It’s not all too surprising that this is the season for new years resolutions, new habits, bucket list creation and more. Now, different people have different things that they want to do with the next twelve months. Some will want to get in shape. Some will want to pick up a new skill. Some will want to quit a bad habit. If your focus is travel, you’re far from alone. The covid-19 pandemic put travel on hold for a long time and, now that most countries have fully reopened their borders, many of us want to make the most of it. Here are some top tips to help you plan a big trip for 2023!
Budget
First, decide how much you’re willing to spend. Will you be drawing from savings? Will you be saving and booking when you hit your target? Either way, you’re going to have to set yourself a budget to ensure that you stay within your spending limits, or to set yourself a goal to aim for. There are trips to suit all figures out there, from low cost domestic trips to luxury resorts in luxury destinations. Also consider the cost of converting your money, as different currencies hold different weights in different places.
Consider Travel Insurance
It’s essential that you take out a travel insurance policy while you’re away. Travel insurance covers you financially if any problems occur. Check different policies’ terms and conditions for guidance. You should ideally aim to have plenty of medical cover (to ensure you can get the treatment you need, as and when you may need it) and that you also cover your belongings. This will ensure that you are able to replace your belongings in the case of theft, loss or damage.
Time Off
If you have annual leave or paid time off, you need to use this wisely. It’s all good and well taking a lot of time off in the start of the year for fun and games, but if you want to take a two week break in September, you may need to reconsider this. Make sure that you arrange your annual leave accordingly. You may want to book this off right at the start of the year to guarantee it is approved too.
Company
Will you be engaging in solo travel? Or will you be travelling with someone else? If you want company while you get away, you’re going to have to involve the other party from the start. Determine who’s genuine about wanting to come along and saving to make sure that it can happen. It’s best to travel with someone you know well who has similar interests.
Hopefully, some of the tips outlined above should really help you to plan a big trip for 2023!
