Surprising Supplements to Boost Your Workout

The most common way to supplement your workout routine is to use protein powders that support muscle growth and strength. While this supplement can be effective, there are others you can use that are less well-known but just as good. Most of these surprising supplements are naturally derived.

This article introduces you to five workout supplements that are less well-known but have surprising health benefits. If you want to increase your muscle endurance and recovery times or reduce the impact of free radicals on your body, introduce these superfoods to your routine.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a blue-green algae species with some surprising health benefits. It can help to prevent free-radical damage that leads to aging and reduce blood pressure. In terms of training, spirulina can help to boost power output by up to 30%.

You can take spirulina as a capsule or a powder. Putting it in your protein drink before your workout can increase your muscle strength and your endurance, allowing you to work harder in the gym. It is also a powerful antioxidant that prevents damage to cells.

CBD Oil

CBD oil is an extract from the cannabis plant; however, it does not contain any of the psychoactive properties found in a standard cannabis plant. Instead, the THC is removed, allowing you to benefit from the enhanced workout properties.

CBD contains endocannabinoids that attach to receptors in the brain, reducing inflammation in the muscles and helping you to relax. This aids you in the gym by allowing your muscles to work harder and helping them recover faster post-workout.

Caffeine

For most people, caffeine is the substance that wakes them up in the morning or afternoon, but for others, this common chemical is an excellent way to boost their performance in the gym. That’s because caffeine has properties that directly influence the muscles.

Caffeine can help the muscles to burn fat more quickly and preserve glycogen stores preventing your muscles from wearing out too quickly. Introducing some caffeine to your body shortly before workouts is a surprising way to improve your performance.

Yellow Borneo Kratom

Yellow Borneo Kratom is a powder that has a surprising effect on energy levels, so like caffeine, it can boost your performance in the gym without any side effects. Kratom comes from a leaf that’s specially dried to bring out its distinctive properties.

So what are the benefits of yellow borneo kratom? If you experience fluctuating energy levels throughout the day, this kratom strain can regulate your energy and help you power through; it can also increase your focus and reduce stress by lowering cortisol levels.

Curcumin

You’re probably more familiar with curcumin from your Indian food on the weekend, but, as well as flavor, this ingredient has a range of surprising health benefits that can also assist you in the gym. For example, Curcumin is excellent for stress reduction and anti-oxidizing.

Studies are ongoing with this superfood, but research shows that curcumin supports cardiovascular health and helps with muscle recovery. So if you want to boost your workout routine, don’t save your curcumin intake for the weekends.
