Map Your Route

It doesn’t matter whether you are going on a bike ride, for a jog or even on a walk because you need to make sure that you map out your route ahead of time. The more you can do this, the easier you will find it to do your workout and you won’t have to stop and check your GPS all the time either. Another bonus of mapping out your route is if you happen to get lost or injured, then you know that someone can easily find you. You never know, it could save your life.

Take your Cell Phone

Yes, taking your phone with you can be cumbersome. Sometimes you may well prefer to be free and to not have it with you when you are out running. That being said, if you fall or if you get lost, then you have to make sure that you have a way to contact people. If you can do this, then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to stay safe when exploring the great outdoors.

Be Wary of Dogs

It is not uncommon to see dogs when you are out running. If you are wearing bright running gear, then this can be quite attractive to dogs. When exercising outdoors, if you see a dog that is loose, then make sure that you do not run from the animal. Stand still and put your hands close to your body. You also need to make sure that you do not shout or yell at the animal. If you can follow these safety tips, then it will help you to stay safe when you are out running or if you are hiking and see a dog on the loose.

Wear Gear that is Reflective

If you are running in the evening or if you are running in the early morning when the sun is just rising, then you have to make sure that you wear some kind of reflective gear. It may be wise for you to wear clothing that has the reflective gear built-in if possible. The great thing about wearing reflective gear is that it makes it way easier for cars or even cyclists to see you and this will help you to ensure that you stay safe.
