Happy 7th, TransPremium!

November has always been a month that is very dear to my heart. Sweet November (how I like to call it) is the month I was born in (November 9, to be exact). It also marks the month I decided to establish my own business, and it has always been the month with the heaviest workload, ever since I started my career.

Exactly seven years ago, after being a freelancer for a little over a couple of years, I decided it was time to take things to the next level. With that decision came the idea of not going for my real name.

At first, I named my business “Premium Translation Services”. A few years later, I felt like it was time for some drastic changes. I acknowledged the need to have a website and, eventually, knew the name should be shorter. During a rather swift brainstorming session, I came out with the name “TransPremium” and let me tell you: it’s been the best decision I’ve made.

So, with my website established and my business growing bigger and bigger, new members would join the team to cater for the needs of all clients. At the end of the day though, I was still working from the comfort of my own home, and that was simply the cherry on top. Running a business in your onesie? Count me in at all times!

It is noteworthy that even if I do work from home, I am never consumed by a certain routine. We translate something new every day, not to mention the business meetings and interpretation gigs that I have to go to. It was all good at the end of the day.

It makes me sad that not all my colleagues are happy with their career. I genuinely try to spread positivity around this business because I am very passionate about my work, and I try to make fellow translators cherish their work. I do believe that our business is quite rewarding. In fact, I get to be home with my babies and work at the same time. I get to be businesswoman and mommy at the same time. I simply get to be Mompreneur. As for all the reasons why I love working from home, I already made a list of them here.

Fellow translators: how empowering would it feel to be your own boss? To hand over your own business cards and not your employer’s? To have the luxury to say “no” to a job that you don’t want to work on? To not have to get out of bed to go to work when you’re sick or when it’s too cold outside? To postpone all jobs because you have a play-date with your kids? The perks are too many to count.

On that note, I’d like to wish all my fellow translators happiness, no matter what they choose their career to look like!

So, on the occasion of TransPremium’s 7th anniversary, I will be giving the website a face-lift. The blog will also feature new and different topics that I am passionate about. Don’t ask me when, though. You’ll just see it when it happens!

Stick around and enjoy the ride!

I’m really enjoying the ride. May you have more anniversaries ahead to celebrate. I’d share those celebrations for sure.
